Mini PCs in the Dorsium network. Why exactly these? What do they contain? How do they work? We answer all your questions.

What's in the Box? Dorsium Hardware in Detail

One mining rig above all.
One mining rig brings treasure.
One mining rig for all,
the precious, the only one.

What exactly is a Dorsium mining rig?

In the Dorsium ecosystem, we use two types of mining hardware:

  • Node rig: 3x mining multiplier
  • Validator rig: 6x mining multiplier

Both are built on HP EliteDesk mini PC base, expanded in storage and memory, but not by accident.

Why Mini PCs?

I sometimes get this question. "Why don't you use more powerful machines? Why not use your own/existing hardware?"

Good question! In short, because the Dorsium "solution" doesn't require powerful machines, and if we had moved towards own/existing hardware, we wouldn't have fulfilled the democratization of mining. And this was one of our commitments - that mining rigs should be plug & play. So you connect it and it works.

And not least, we would have had to finance the project differently, taking more decision-making power away from the community and giving it to large initial investors. In the Dorsium project, there will be complete community governance in a few years.

But that's not all, there are technical details to this as well:

1. Not GPU-based

We don't use PoW (Proof of Work), but HDC (Hierarchical Delegated Consensus) mechanism. I won't go into technical details now, but there's no need for powerful GPUs or even more powerful machines here (there's something "custom" in them, although we started from the EliteDesk level).

2. Democratization

The goal is to make it plug & play for anyone. No IT knowledge required, no need to select hardware, configure it, or install software.

You unbox it, connect it, it works.

It's accessible even to those with 0 IT knowledge.

3. Ecological

The mini PC consumes little power, is quiet and stable. This is the sustainable direction, and it also meets idealistic principles. Who knows what ECO regulations the future will bring.

4. Decentralization control

If everyone used any hardware, it would be harder to guarantee network stability and fairness. Plus, democratization and scalability (mobile, node, validator) would be missing.

Uniform hardware also helps with scalability.

5. Bootstrap financing

The community sustains the project, there's no VC (Venture Capital) yet. Node/Validator (+PAL) sales cover servers, external services, bills, taxes, etc.

Technical Specifications

Node rig contains:

  • HP EliteDesk 800 G2 Mini PC
  • Intel Core i5-6500T (6th generation) processor
  • 16GB RAM
  • 500GB SATA SSD
  • Pre-installed Dorsium Agent software

Validator rig contains:

  • HP EliteDesk 800 G2 Mini PC
  • Intel Core i5-6500T (6th generation) processor
  • 16GB RAM
  • 1TB NVMe SSD
  • Pre-installed Dorsium Agent software

How does it work?

1. You order - Choose the Node or Validator package. Order here: MINING RIG ORDER

2. KYC verification - We verify you according to EU MiCA regulation

3. Shipping - You receive the machine in a box by post

4. Plug & Play - Connect it to power source and your router (we don't provide internet cable), turn it on, it works

5. Mining starts - The machine automatically connects to the network

No complicated installation. No configuration. It just works.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why not a GPU-based miner?

We don't use PoW. The HDC mechanism doesn't require expensive GPUs or ASIC rigs.

Can I use my own hardware?

Not yet. For network stability and democratization, we use uniform hardware. There may be changes in the future, but the community will decide.

How much power does it consume?

Node: ~25-35W
Validator: ~35-50W

For comparison, a Bitcoin ASIC consumes ~3000W.

When will I receive DORS tokens?

The dPOINT collected during mining converts to DORS tokens at a 1:1 ratio when mainnet launches (Q1 2027).

What if it breaks?

Warranty and support are part of the purchase. Details in the purchase terms.

The Blockchain Trilemma

The decision also considered solving the blockchain trilemma (decentralization, security, scalability).

The uniform, energy-efficient hardware platform helps in all three areas:

  • Decentralization - Anyone can join, democratic
  • Security - Controlled, reliable network
  • Scalability - Mobile → Node → Validator tiers

But our performance will prove it, not words. 💪

Conclusion

Dorsium mining rigs are mini PC-based for good reason. This was a conscious decision that combines:

  • Technical feasibility
  • Democratization
  • Ecological sustainability
  • Community financing
  • Network stability
